The Society of Celtic Shamans is expanding its programs into the virtual world of Second Life.
What is Second Life?
Second Life is a 3-D virtual world entirely built and owned by its Residents. Since opening to the public in 2003, it has grown explosively and today is inhabited by a total of 9,247,139 Residents from around the globe.
A good thing is that it will cost you nothing to find out if you enjoy the Second Life virtual world. The Basic account is absolutely FREE. It includes "... unlimited access to Second Life's tools, events and communities. You must be 18 years or older to join Second Life."
Even better, almost everyone who connects to the Internet through a Cable or DSL connection can enjoy Second Life. Unfortunately, dial-up modem connections are too slow. To find out if your computer and Internet connection will work with Second Lifeclick here.
The programs we establish in Second Life will be adapted to this enriched virtual world environment. When you first join Second Life you are asked to create an Avatar. Your avatar is your vehicle — your virtual body — which you guide through the world of Second Life.

My avatar is named Tira Greenwood. Here are some snapshots I've taken of places I've visited in Second Life. The red-hairded "woman" in these pictures is my avatar, Tira Greenwood.

As you can see, there are some very beautiful and magical places in the Second Life world. It is even more important to know our avatars can meet one another in Second Life. We can sit by the fire and share our life journeys. We can enjoy a Guinness or a horn of mead in some cosy inn. We can get to know one another better and have real time conversations.
This technology makes it possible for me to meet with my students in Second Life. To hold classes and individual tutoring sessions. To conduct personalized initiations. To do real time healings and soul part retreivals. In other words, working with you in Second Life is the next best thing to working with you in person.

These plans are still in their early stages. Any Second Lifers out there who would like to help in this expansion or make useful suggestions please I/M Tira Greenwood. Put me on your Friends list.
Anyone who is not a Second Lifer but would like to learn more about Second Life please click here to email me. I can walk you through the process of signing up for your free account and give you advice and tips on creating your avatar and getting around in Second Life.
The first step to joining Second Life is to choose your name. You may choose any name you wish for your first name within certain constraints. Your name must be at least 2 letters long and no more then 31. You must, however, select you last name from a list. (SL hint: Choose your name carefully and wisely, you can't change it later.) To join Second Life. I chose the name Tira Greenwood. Tira is, of course, my first name. Greenwood was the name that most closely matches my title of the Groves. To get started in Second Life and begin enjoying our virtual reality community now click here.
I have already established the public group and the teaching groves in Second Life. Second Life folk should search groups for Celticshamans in SL and join the group. Even if you are not a student you are very welcome to join this public Second Life group. As a member of Celticshamans in SL you will be informed of all public gatherings and events we host in Second Life.
I look forward to "seeing" you in Second Life.
