  1. Take three deep breaths. That's it, inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale...
  2. Consider this: Dozens of folks have successfully applied to join the Oak Grove over the years. Some were new to the internet, some were old hands, and you are just as smart as they are.
  3. Say this affirmation three times: Other folks have figured this out. So can I!
  4. If you are feeling frustrated, stand up, walk away from the computer and count to three or make yourself a cup of tea, do something to relax before you continue.

You are going to go to the test page in just a minute. But first...

  1. Grab a pen/pencil and a notepad so you can keep notes.
  2. Remember that the Key is yada@yada.com and the password is oakgrove.
  3. What should happen when you click on the TEST PAGE link is that you go to a page that asks for your Key and Password.
  4. When you enter the Key: yada@yada.com in the Key data field ... and the Password: oakgrove in the Password field and either hit your ENTER key or click the button on screen, you should end up on a page that starts out: Congratulations! You are now on the Oak Grove Test Page.
  5. If anything else happens there is a problem.
  6. Be ready to make some notes if there is a problem. "Could not get in." is not a note. That is a comment. A note details the following:
    • Exactly what happened when you tried the page.
    • What messages did you get when you tried to get in.
    • What was the URL of the page that the message was on (the URL is the bit in the "Go To" field that starts out http:).
  7. A few messages that people get a lot, all over the internet, are those saying that the page cannot be accessed at this time, or that the server is down, or that the page cannot be found. This is exactly the same thing as getting a busy signal when you telephone a friend. There is no such place as cyberspace, there are only millions of computers that are all linked together. Sometimes so many are linked together at once that the phone lines and cables get overloaded, and then we start to get these 'busy signals'. Try again later, just as you would if you telephoned a friend and got a busy signal.
  8. Sometimes if you hit your Refresh or Renew button the page will load after all. But if you try that a couple of times and still get a 'busy signal' message. Give up and try it some other time.
  9. If you click on the link below and the message is that the page cannot be found --- that is the same as a busy signal. This is a good link. The message is a busy signal type message --- the link below is a good, active link. It works and will work as long as the SCS is on-line. If you are reading this message, the link below is a good, active link.

So, all clear on this?
