“The Salmon of Knowledge is also the Salmon of Wisdom whose home is the Well of Segais or the Well of Conla. The Well of Segais is the Otherworld source of the Boyne. It is a deep pool, surrounded by the Nine Hazels of Inspiration. The Hazel nuts ripen and fall into the pool where the Salmon eats them. She cracks their shells, which stain the waters of the well purple. The empty shells float off, down the five streams that flow from the Well of Segais. The five streams are the five senses through which we perceive the world. It is said that one may never be wise until one has drunk from the Well of Segais and from each of the five streams.”

In Emhain Abhlach, the land underwave of Manannan mac Lir, there is another pool called the Well of Conla. It is much like the Well of Segais except that seven streams flow from the Well of Conla. Celtic traditions sometimes speak of humans as having seven senses: seeing, hearing, tasting, touching, smelling, speaking, and thinking. As with the Well of Segais, none may become wise until one has drunk deeply from the Well of Conla and the seven streams.

(This is a total immersion retreat. If you plan to tour Vancouver and the surrounding area you will need to do this before or after your scheduled time in the Hazel House. This is a solitary retreat, if you wish to spend time in the area with a partner or friend it is best that is arranged to happen before or after the retreat. If before, your partner or friend should return home when you enter the retreat. If after, your partner or friend should arrive the day after you complete your retreat. I do highly recommend you not involve anyone else in any way with this retreat, before or after. This is your time to be with your ancestors, your guides, and your guardians and allies. To include another person will detract from your experience.)
